CD's and Videos:

Here are two Albums we strongly suggest!

Great hits on the GRAMMY CD and the

SPYRA GYRA jazz album is a real killer (especially track 10)!

SPECIAL SUGGESTIONS

Road Scholars

Spyro Gyra

Album Notes:
Spyro Gyra: Julio Fernandez (guitars, vocals); Jay Beckenstein (saxophone); Tom Schuman (keyboards); Scott Ambush (bass); Joel Rosenblatt (drums, percussion).

Recorded live between March and October 1997 on location and at BearTracks Recording Studio, Suffern, New York.

If you don't like Lite Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Instrumental Pop, whatever you want to call it; stuff that wouldn't sound out of place in between David Sanborn and Kenny G on your local radio station, you probably shouldn't even be reading this far, because Spyro Gyra are avatars of the style. If their bag is your bag, however, you can feel comfortable diving right in to the sonic tapestry that is ROAD SCHOLARS. The band's synth-driven instrumental assault, led by keyboardists Jay Beckenstein and Tom Schuman, has remained consistent throughout their years of recording and touring together, and the formula here is very much in keeping with their trademark sound.

Funky drums, complex, dexterous keyboard work, and spare, melodic sax lines abound. The title refers to the fact every track here (with the exception of the newly recorded version of "Best Friends") was recorded live in a different U.S. city. The kicker is that all of these live tracks sound studio-perfect, both in performance and sound quality, which are two of the main things that people have come to expect from the men of Spyro Gyra.
